ASFS crashes on launch when trying to use network install

I installed ASFS on a remote machine. I then installed the connector on the sim machine.

When I launch ASFS it says connector not installed. Seems normal according to the dialog box for a network install I should hit cancel. I do that. It asks again. I hit cancel again. The third time it asks for the folder location. So I find the installer, that fails because it wants MSFS on the local machine. Then it asks for the installer location AGAIN. So I hit cancel and then I get an exception error and the app crashes. This is repeatable every time and with a clean uninstall/install.

Network install not supported anymore, or is this a bug? There doesn't seem to be any older install files available on the website for me to try.

Hi,

From the User Documentation.

Networked Configuration
ASFS does not currently support a networked configuration where the ASFS client software
runs on a different computer other than MSFS. We hope to add this capability in the
future.
The included Weather Web Companion app, however, does work in a networked
environment, on any device connected to the local network that ASFS is running on, using
a simple web browser. See the Weather Web Companion app chapter for more
information.
The ASFS API http Web Server port should be opened (19285 default). This port provides
necessary ASFS Connector communications, and the web companion app capability,
allowing you to use a browser on any device to view and control weather.

Fair enough. I would say then that the dialog box that comes up during install is a little misleading then, because it certainly gives the impression that a network install of the client is possible.

That is on the todo list (Low Priority).

I would agree this is misleading. I purchased this software solely to run over a network. Now I find out this is low priority for you guys!? You need to make it clearer that this software does not run over a network so your customers don't feel so ripped off when they find out too late.

We've already corrected the UI in our current build to not reference legacy simconnect-remote-style network support. We still have companion app network support. We don't advertise legacy networked support for ASFS anywhere other than the companion app. If there is something wrong/misleading that still exists, please let us know where so we can correct it. If you'd like a refund, please open a ticket. Thank you.
