Hello all,

Summer of 2019, already? Time sure flies! It was almost exactly 20 years ago that Active Sky was conceived and began development, on the FS98 platform. We sure have come a long way since then! Thanks to all our customers, supporters, our dedicated developers and staff, and everyone in the FS community, we have achieved incredible things. But really, we are just getting started!

We recently returned from a great FlightSimExpo 2019 in Orlando, Florida, where we got to personally meet and talk to hundreds of Active Sky fans and many developers, media, and other figures in the community. It was an outstanding event and we're looking forward to the next one in Las Vegas!

I wanted to give a quick update of what's going on here at HiFi and what new developments to expect over the next year:

-We continue working to bring our cloud depiction visual replacement technology to X-Plane. We are getting closer, but have some work yet to do mainly in the performance department when complex cloud scenes exist. In addition to the visuals technology, we are working on other enhancements and exciting new features for ASXP.

-Our next generation P3D weather engine is coming along, with a focus on improved realism and a more authentic weather experience all around.

-ASCA Volume 2 is also continuing development, bringing new textures, skies, cloud models and enhanced API/integration features on the P3D platform.

-We are nearing completion of new open graphics integration capability between Active Sky wx engine and all sorts of graphics/visuals add-ons, enabling developers of all types and content of all categories (including Cloud Textures) to fully integrate with AS and utilize dynamics, wx-influence and more.

-We are also working on a couple other projects that we hope to reveal within the next year.

-Meanwhile we are continuing to bring fixes and general enhancements to all existing products on all platforms.​

In summary, we're very busy working hard on lots of different things, and we are excited to finally get to show off some of this in the coming months!

This is also probably a good time to talk about the newly announced MSFS trailer video and "Insider" website information!

So here we go:

-We know nearly nothing about this product and what integration and extensibility capability it will or will not have. Nor do we know when it will be released. It could be a year, it could be more.

-If a comprehensive SDK will be available, we don't know when, and we don't know if it will be viable to develop advanced weather engine technology with it.

-We are hopeful that we will be able to bring our passion, experience and capability in realistic weather simulation to this new simulator in any and all ways possible.

-In the mean time we plan to continue on our mission, making our products better and giving our users what they ask for, on all platforms they demand.​
