Visibility in sim

Hi

I have noticed during some bad visibility approaches that the METER VIS was not set in the sim or only once over the Runway during landing ... eg EGGW 290120Z AUTO 05006KT 0600 R07/1400 FG OVC001 07/06 Q1023 and this was what the sim showed (ignore the A/C not set up right was just a demo flight to show the WX) … The Vis was fine and there's no over cast layer at 100 feet ,.. Should have been IMC all the way down.

Another example ...
EGMC 290350Z 36004KT 0600 R05/0750U FG OVC000 07/07 Q1024

Decoded textual weather for EGMC

Wind: 360 at 4 knots
Visibility: 0.5 SM (750 m)
Clouds: Overcast at 0 feet
Temperature: 7.0C
Dewpoint: 7.0C
Precipitation: None reported
Altimeter: 1024 mb (30.24 inches)

This station includes complete surface weather information, interpolation disabled.

If you fly into this area the metar will be:
-EGMC 290350Z 36004KT 0750 FG 07/07 Q1024 RMK AS DEPICTED
This is because the depiction is Cloned by departure: EGMC

Original metar of the stations:
EGMC 290350Z 36004KT 0600 R05/0750U FG OVC000 07/07 Q1024

Why is it not adding the OVC layer? i set up the flight plan to include EGMC as both dep and arrival airport just for an IFR Circuit
EGMC 290350Z 36004KT 0600 R05/0750U FG OVC000 07/07 Q1024 but showing EGMC 290350Z 36004KT 0750 FG 07/07 Q1024 RMK AS DEPICTED

Thanks
Rich

Same approach same weather but using Xplanes default Weather engine ... clearly see the overcast layer is correctly shown as i would expect

If i don't use the Flight plan option and just do IFR Circuits then it will display correctly , this is what it says in the Conditions section .

EGMC 290350Z 36004KT 0600 R05/0750U FG OVC000 07/07 Q1024

Decoded textual weather for EGMC

Wind: 360 at 4 knots
Visibility: 0.5 SM (750 m)
Clouds: Overcast at 0 feet
Temperature: 7.0C
Dewpoint: 7.0C
Precipitation: None reported
Altimeter: 1024 mb (30.24 inches)

If you fly into this area the metar will be:
-EGMC 290350Z 36004KT 0750 FG OVC000 07/07 Q1024 RMK AS DEPICTED
This is because the depiction is Cloned by: EGMC, closest weather station when the aircraft was on the ground

Original metar of the stations:
EGMC 290350Z 36004KT 0600 R05/0750U FG OVC000 07/07 Q1024

As you can see the OVC setting will get shown in Xplane if the menu feature is not used…compare it to the conditions two posts above when the Flight Plan option was used , no OVC displayed in the sim.

Same here.
Clouds and fog are not correct until you’re on the ground.
Does someone knows how to fix it?

Attaching a demo of a flight from LIPY to LIPR with this metar in LIPR: LIPR 300850Z 32004KT 0800 R31/1300N FG NSC 03/02 Q1005.
ASXP was showing 40SM of visibility... (All si set correctly: METAR.rwx, ASXP settings, doing manual refresh of the weather on final(in debug/refresh weather), etc.).

Hope to get that solved,
Roger.

Same here! Im actually using xplane real weather condtions below FL150. Activesky its nos injecting real visibility.

Hope they do something about it.

Yeah, this is the most frustrating thing about ASXP i think. Hope they fix it. And also night fog is not the same with the day. Hope they fix it asap.

Hi,

The visibility issue we are aware of due to changes in the latest version of X-Plane.

We are attempting a fix for this which will be available and hopefully resolved in a future beta update.

Thank You for your patience while we are working on this.

Hi
Any news on this issue please? as i have just done a smart copilot flight with someone and the visibility issue kind of ruined the emersion ... i was the pilot flying so could not get any pictures, but he did .. One is on the Approach and the other after landing , and here is what it should have been ...EGKK 032120Z VRB02KT 0200 R08R/0275 FG VV/// 07/07 Q1025.. We only seemed to hit the main low vis after landing :( although the visibility did get slightly worse on short final but nowhere near what the metar said .

It's been months since any news on ASXP (or much else). Is development even continuing. Will this bug EVER be fixed?

I hope the silence is because they are close to release the cloud system replacement for X-Plane, if not it would be very disappointing. Some months since this problem is acknowledged and not even a hotfix nor development's update, great support indeed...
