8/8 Cloud Coverage

I just bought ASN, latest version. Using it with P3D 3.2

I'm trying to setup IMC conditions with a proper 8/8 cloud cover. Basically as you descend through the clouds, you 'pop-out' of the clouds. I cannot set this condition up, even if you specify 8/8 for all cloud layers, you always see the ground.
Changing the visibility is not a solution, as you can still see the ground.

I'm trying to set this up in manual mode.

Here is a picture to illustrate what's happening. Flying at 1000 ft (about 800ft AGL). Still seeing the ground.
This is the metar from the ASN Interface: EGOS 011330Z 12011KT 1/2SM OVC004 BKN060 OVC120 15/12 Q1015 RMK EDITED WEATHER

Not what I expected from a weather add-on.

What's you cloud density value set in P3d options?

I had medium. I now changed it to maximum, no luck still, can see the ground.

My Altitude: 2000 FT
Metar: EGOS 011330Z 12011G14KT 1/2SM OVC007 BKN060 OVC120 BKN290 15/12 Q1015 RMK EDITED WEATHER (This is one of the presets I loaded).

Please advise how I can achieve this. BTW, Visibility should not play a role in this, we are just talking a 8/8 cloud layer below our Altitude.

Hi,

FSX/P3D cloud depiction is based on rotation of cloud sprites that are effectively 2d textures. So, the camera angle in many cases ("looking down") may lead to issues depending on the transparency areas of your selected cloud texture. Depending on the cloud texture we may select all of us may get these gaps (at certain camera angles).

The question is, are you able to achieve full overcast by using the default P3D manual weather? Try both cumulus and stratus. I doubt that results will be better. The only way to improve this (given the above metar) is to enable volumetric fog in P3D

I fly a lot of IFR flights in ASN. I have noticed that seeing the ground depends on visibility. Note that I do NOT use manual weather. If your vis in the metar is 1/2m and you are under 2500ft, you will see the ground. I expect that if the vis was 1/4m and you were at 2000ft, you would not see the ground unless you were within the 1/4m.

I've had any flights where all I saw were some dark flashes until I broke out over the numbers. Again, I do not know if manually setting layers would affect this.

Yes, you can somehow 'cheat' using the visibility, but that is not correct, and I cannot ever get a solid layer, you always see the ground. You should be able to have a solid cloud layer.
P3D weather has the same issue, but I thought an add-on would fix this.
