Question Snow on the ground

Hi,

Recently I am flying in the Calgary area and currently there is 10 to 20 cm of snow on the ground yet P3DV4 textures show all green. What part of the simulation is responsible for this. I'm referring to the default P3D textures as I believe addon scenery uses their own seasonal changes. I'm just wondering if I'm missing a setting in AS16 or ASCA.

Thanks,

Hello Ed,

First off, it depends on what the METAR reads, was there SN in it: METAR CYYC 031100Z 34007KT 300V360 2 1/2SM -SN BKN018 OVC041 M04/M05 A2995 RMK SC6SC2 SLP199=

In this case the snow was light in intensity.

There would have been snow falling but the ground textures would have remained "green" as the season in Prepar3D is currently autumn.

From Prepar3D SDK page:

Date, Time, and Season
Selecting winter, for instance, can cloak the mountains or prairies in deep snows. (As it snows, the snow on the ground actually accumulates.)

Select a season
In the Select Time and Season dialog box, click Winter, Spring, Summer, or Fall.
Note that with each season option, the landscape graphic along the left side of the screen changes to match the highlighted selection. This will change the landscape texture when you fly.

Hope this helps.

Hi Robert,

Thanks for the reply. I understand now it's a seasonal thing in P3DV4 and nothing to do with the weather engine as far as ground textures are concerned.
