Hello.

I was performing a flight from SKMD to SKMZ.

Doing Valet1A arrival, VOR Y 10.

At waypoint Lanub, the weather at the airport was beautiful, vis > 9999, however metar at that time was:

METAR SKMZ 041900Z VRB02KT 1000 R 10/12 00U +RA OVC007 16/16 Q1025 =

Suddenly, just at MAP (missed approach point), the airport was covered with the weather from metar...

Thanks

There are many settings that work together to achieve your desired sim experience. Check the manual for how they work together.

Off the top of my head, things that could have resulted in that:
  • No flight plan set, so ASFS didn't know you were landing
  • Clone departure/destination wasn't on
  • Prevent weather change at departure/arrival wasn't on
  • Periodic interval injection happened as you reached the MAP
  • Download interval was reached as you reached the MAP

Despite having read the manual I am not sure I understand how clone and prevent weather change at departure/arrival are different. They seem to do the same thing.
Thanks

Prevent downloads during approach prevents downloads from occurring at your download interval, when you are within approximately 80 miles of your destination with a flight plan loaded. This keeps weather stale and will not redownload new data or change weather from data update at all until you are on the ground or further than ~80 miles from destination.

Dep/dest cloning clones the specified departure/destination/alternate weather to all nearby areas/airports/stations so that you only get one set of conditions during your departure or arrival phases, avoiding re-interpolation from other potential influential data sources.

We always recommend defaults here (off/on respectively).

But tonight i did à flight to EGLL with these default.
Pb is QNH was not accurate to last metar and no rain and broken sky as the metar show, only clear sky :(

only way to get the accurate live weather is to set to passive mode
Not true in my experience. Every time I have compared real life with ASFS and MSFS, ASFS wins hands down.

Please post your log in order to see why the arrival cloning wasn't apparently working. Did you have a flight plan?

Hewpilot, please post more information to help us help resolve any issue you are having, but blanket statements that things just don’t work or work incorrectly when most users, developers and beta testers are not seeing the problems you are is unhelpful, to say the least.

Did you try disabling dep/dest cloning and/or reset options to default? I have a feeling this will resolve most of your issues, but if not, I highly recommend starting a trouble ticket so we can work with you on whatever issues you’re experiencing. Thank you.

Hi, so I have today a good accurate flight with these options :
-Download interval 15min
-Periodical thème reload inteval 0
-Prévention download approach and dep ON
-Clone Dep/Dest : OFF
-Smoothing rate : 25 or less

With these settings the full flight was accurate and beautiful !

If someone want to check.

I'm glad that worked, but I think those settings will not give you the most accurate weather, which I think from your posts is what you've been trying to achieve.

Did you use a flight plan?

-Without a periodic refresh, you'll have the same weather for 15 minutes.
-By preventing the download for departure/approach, you'll have the same weather for 80 miles around the airport (Damian explained it in a different thread).
-Cloning dept/dest off could lead to a weather change close to arrival if the METAR is different. -Smoothing rate 25 or less probably takes 12-15 minutes to load completely, so it'll be smooth, but might not be fully loaded depending on when you comprare the depiction to the METAR.

Mmm interesting but 15 min during a long hours flight seem ok to have a smoothy weather changing.
And 80 miles is about 15min so in my last flight I got the last accurate metar at departure and destination and no sudden change (with preventing approach).

If you fly VFR may be you need different settings as you said.

For anyone having issues here... We found some potential causes and prevented instant refresh in these cases. We also suspect that flight plans may be changing somehow, causing a refresh, but we are so far unable to see this with the aircraft we've been testing. The new build will have additional logging to help identify any remaining issues. Thanks!
