Resolved Possible issue with METAR not refreshing

Hi Damian,

I have seen other threads where people reported not seeing the METAR refresh under normal usage, but that they were able to switch to Passive mode and back to Preset mode and that would prompt a refresh/download of the data.

I had not previously experienced the same, so assumed it was not a big issue. However, I think I might have found the issue and think I may have a suggestion about what might be going on.

I loaded into KIAH at 1812Z on 3 May, 2024 to check out some thunderstorms. It turned out that they had already moved on at that time, but I decided to look around the area to see what weather I could get there, as well as to try out some different transition smoothing settings.

What I noticed is that in the entire time I have been sitting there, even though my download interval is set to 15 minutes and there have been various METARs issues in the intervening time, my Conditions page continues to show the same METAR as when I loaded in.

Once I started noticing that, I tried pressing the Refresh Weather button on the debug window, but as you can see, every time I did that, I got a message saying "Loading previously loaded weather..." It seems that it's somehow stuck in a loop using the same weather despite the fact that the main ASFS page shows that the time has increased. Even after hitting the top of the next hour, it doesn't download new information. There seems to be an issue with time and when the program thinks it needs to download new information, something I have indicated before in threads about the time setting for historical weather.

Some of the METARS that should have been downloaded:

Log file is also attached.

I see lots of mode changes, location changes, and the manual refreshes, which is probably causing the download timer to not reset accordingly somewhere in there. I'll try and reproduce. In the other log without those manual changes the downloads are firing normally. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for looking into it. I am including another Log file. This time, I am sitting at KDEN, not moving around, but trying to change settings to see the visual differences. I did some Refresh Weather button presses on the debug window and some Apply weather on different settings as I changed them, if they had the option.

I again got stuck in portraying an old METAR and switching to Passive mode did not correct the issue. Not thinking it would really help, I switched to Historical weather mode (which was set to the current, live, time) and it immediately downloaded a new METAR and transitioned to weather that is more like the current real world situation. As soon as I moved back to ASFS Live weather, the weather depiction remained the same.

Note that I haven't been sitting at KDEN for all that long, and that I think that the METAR that was originally loaded in the Live weather Preset mode was already old in what was loaded. I'm wondering if it's advisable to run in Historical mode even if flying in real time?

I'm also having somewhat of the same issue running on the latest beta build. At KCLT it looked like it hasn't been updated for over a hour. However, it also appeared as if live weather was doing the same. KCLT's METAR also didn't refresh upon restarting the sim either. So I'm not sure if it was just the airport METAR being buggy or what... 1715043754376.png

Hi, so I have today a good accurate flight with these options :
-Download interval 15min
-Periodical thème reload inteval 0
-Prévention download approach and dep ON
-Clone Dep/Dest : OFF
-Smoothing rate : 25 or less

With these settings the full flight was accurate and beautiful !

If someone want to check
