Answered Critical Error

I only uninstalled yesterdays update. Didn't have an option to uninstall the other one. Seems to have worked, no errors. Will need to test fully on next flight, as I reinstalled ASFS after I started my present flight.

Followed the instructions on "INFO - Crash affecting all AS products since latest Windows 11 Update | HiFi Simulation Technologies Forums", unfortunately, no joy. Same error comes up again, even after having reinstalled ASFS 😣
What version of ASFS are you using? It should be B9412, latest official. Any test builds may have issues as they were designed to create additional errors/logging.

Also make sure you uninstalled both KBs... the 2nd one (from the instructions) is a bit further down the list in Update history in some cases. In any case, if you're still having issues please open/respond to support ticket so we can assist. Thanks!

Someone might want to try this out, without uninstalling the updates:

Independent advisors appear to confirm that it is indeed the KB5066835 update that introduced the bug. The issue appears to be related to the HTTP/2 protocol.

Temporary fix without uninstalling KB5066835:

  1. In the registry, navigate to:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters
  2. Under the Parameters folder, right-click in the right-hand pane and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  3. Name the value EnableHttp2Tls and set its data to 0 (zero).
  4. Repeat the process to add another value named EnableHttp2Cleartext and set its data to 0.
  5. Restart the machine.

I'll give it a shot after my current flight, unless someone beats me. :)

We've tried this with a few customers experiencing this, and it did not resolve the issue thus we cannot recommend this "fix". The only known fix atm is to uninstall the KBs associated with this.

For some reason, beyond me, KB5065789, did not uninstall the first-time round. It has now uninstalled and ASFS in working again. I hope you find a definitive fix soon. Thanks.

Ok thanks.
I was looking though more for a KB number. I still use W10 😉

Update on this: We've received numerous reports that a new update for KB5066835 has been pushed by MS to many users resolving this issue. We expect it will be pushed to all within the coming days. Make sure you update windows to get the new KB5066835 (26200.6899 vs. the problematic 26100.6899).

I have this update but still the same critical error message with simbrief. I can get into AS no problem. The problem is when I try to upload the snapshot I get the critical error message and the notice that the Active Sky Exporter cannot connect to AS.

Are you referring to a SimBrief issue? If so, please see the other recent thread on this: https://forums.hifisimtech.com/threads/version-9412-not-placing-weather-briefing-into-simbrief-flight-plan-msfs2020.15660/

This thread is in regards to a crash on ASFS startup due to an issue in the previous KB5066835 update pushed by MS to Windows 11 users.

In any case, if you are having issues that none of this explains, please open a ticket so we can help. Thanks!
