A2A Comanche 250, turbulence settings and compatibility with AS.

Hello,

Comanche 250 from A2A has its own turbulence settings for the AccuSim which are accessible via the PDA in the aircraft.
Since Active Sky also has its own turbulence, I'm trying to understand the compatibility between the two systems.
Do I need to turn one off or do they happily work together?

I've had Comanche 250 turbulence set to full 100% and I've had Active Sky turbulence effects at 100% as well. The random turbulence is turned off.
Everything seemed to work relatively well with manageable jolts and bumps through the flights.

MSFS's marketplace have updated Comanche to its latest version (1.6 I believe) this week, and since then, it is impossible to fly, the aircraft has been been thrown all over the place in my last flight.

So I'm wondering if my previous experience was just mild turbulence in my flights and it was working as expected, or if my previous experience was not working correctly and I was getting only a percentage of the total turbulence.

Maybe it was just a super bumpy flight, this one, that I haven't experienced before and it fully showed what 100% turbulence feels like.

I've also experimented with turning either one of them off, but I haven't noticed any difference in the bumpiness, so something definitely feels off after the update.
Before the update, if I had Comanche turbulence off, I was not getting ANY turbulence from Active Sky either, which made me thing that I need Comanche's setting to be on.

With two systems controlling the turbulence I'm trying to better understand how well they play with each other.

One note, I'm in a motion rig, so I feel every jolt and bump physically, which probably makes my experience a lot more sensitive compared to just viewing it onscreen or in VR.

Thanks a bunch for the thread/feedback.

I haven't tried this aircraft (yet) but understand that some of our effects may interact unexpectedly with other aircraft and effects add-ons depending on what they are doing. Especially with rapid changes/updates/improvements in MSFS, the other add-ons and our add-on.

First, please make sure you are on the latest ASFS update. With the latest, I can't see how you won't see ASFS turb effects, unless the Comanche turbulence = off is somehow actively inhibiting/suppressing SimConnect force effects somehow. Maybe it is, and that would be quite impressive and ideal for their add-on IMO.

As to the latest update there causing unexpectedly high/unwanted levels of turbulence, I can suggest two things:

1) Experiment with the Turb effects scale and rotational effects setting in ASFS to see if you can get ideal results per your expectations.
2) If this doesn't work to your liking, please take this up with A2A. If it's specific to their latest update I'm sure they would like to know about this so they can consider this in future updates.

Hope that helps, and I appreciate any further feedback on this pertaining to this aircraft and/or any other aircraft/add-ons. We are always willing to adjust our add-on as users need/want.

Just to chime in on this FWIW I have been pretty much testing with the A2A throughout the whole development process and have my settings in A2A and ASFS both at around 25% regarding turbulence settings with 1.6.1 but to each their own also regarding specific Sim setups.

aircraft profiles? is it hard to implement without resource eating? active sky once disabled autopilot, because interfere with aircraft controls, and aircraft controls can disable autopilot in the comanche. but that was long time ago, with one of firsts versions. as some aircraft have their own implementation of dynamic, that interact with msfs settings, 3rd gamer can add some mess, so aircraft profiles would be cool for guys who use active sky all the time, i use it for now only with broken snow layers in alaska canada new zeland swiss land. for lukla use rex, actually i use rex some time as alternative to active sky in other regions too, but so far in most situation i just use live weather. for the comanche i think is best anyway, except mentioned regions with all year snow. probably even regions profile would be interesting too, so we can use active sky all the time, but it will activated only above certain areas or and aircraft. long time ago i bought fsrealistic but most of time don't use it. just because too lazy, but there you can set profile for specific vehicle, for avoid crossing of effects. or use some priority system, for example if somewhere in simulator used turbulence effect as event in simconnect or wherever it appear, active sky disable the itself effect... if i'd could set global settings for fsrealistic i'd use it all time, but for every aircraft checking all that things, it's too much. but i'm bad example, i guess most people will o.k. with auto profiles in active sky.
thank you.
p.s. btw in new version for now installed xxx20, you can found different types of turbulence, so if you will set minimum for pitch, roll and turn, and standard for bump vertical/horizontal i guess that's will minimize effect to the comanche disabling autopilot, and probably even will not +ing effect

Before the update, if I had Comanche turbulence off, I was not getting ANY turbulence from Active Sky either, which made me thing that I need Comanche's setting to be on.
I had the same exact issue as you described. If I set A2A Comanche turbulence off then I don't have turbulence anymore, no matter what if AS Depiction mode is set..
Only by using "Passive mode" then Turbulence get back... and I gave a try yesterday with the Black Square TBM I don't have any issue as I encounter with the A2A Comanche, but again the turbulence work only with the "passive mode", for both of the airplanes, when depiction mode is used it deletes most of the turbulence in clouds and during flying no matter if the settings are correctly set in AS, 100%, Turb Effect Scale etc without any other addon linked that could create a conflict.

It seems to be very complex to find the right settings so far... I spent more time testing than flying but for the good goal, so that I can't wait to go back to Xplane 12! ahaha where it seems coherent by using Active Sky./XP.

I'll give an other try right now with the TBM Black Square taking off from LFRG, it should be bumpy CB around... Yesterday I was pretty satisfied in terms of turb taking off from TTFR, CB and very windy which was very turbulent by the way, that gives me hope to find TS in order to see how dangerous it goes!

Thanks to @damian for helping and for your advices! ;-)

It seems I got the turbulence back by putting Comanche's turb to full 100%, AS turb to full 100% as well and setting it to "Realistic" in MSFS.
A few of the flights that I've done so far, there is some movement but nothing crazy, feels nice actually... alive.

HOWEVER, I have no clue how to read the METAR and I don't know if what I was experiencing is what SHOULD have been happening according to the actual weather. At this point I'm a bit tired of testing and re-testing all the little compatibility nuances. I'm just flying, not caring if it is depicting realistic behavior or not.

As long as I don't get crazy motion that spurred this post in the first place, I'm good. And even that, as I said may have actually been an accurate depiction of the weather that no sane person would fly during in real life.
