Is it possible for Active Sky to download the metar in hours, for example 20:00Z and 20:30Z? Why does it download at these times but the metar is only updated at 20:15Z and 20:45Z.

The only add on I use is GSX Pro, which I called after this event to get a gate set up. GSX Pro can teleport the aircraft to another location, but I did not use it for that. I recall I had landed, and exited the runway to the wrong side, and had to taxi back to the main terminal side, and that was when it happened. KBWI is a payware airport. I did not access the MSFS menu at all. Very strange.
Later I used FSIPanel to shoot the same approach several times to recreate the situation. The METAR had not changed from before. Each time there was no sudden weather refresh, and the METAR conditions remained unchanged and through landing and taxi to gate. Will remain a mystery.

So I found a possible bug related to the weather not updating, beta 8883.
I spent the last 2 hours trying to figure why my flight from LEZL to LPFR would not update until I was on top of LPFR.
I would have this

@POS 281600Z 26009KT 210V300 9999 21/00 Q1011 RMK AS DEPICTED
(Cloned by: LEZL, closest weather station when the aircraft was on the ground)

This station has complete visibility information. No interpolation needed
Altimeter interpolation based on:
-LEZL 3nm NE (Q1011), LEMO 23nm SE (Q1012), LEJR 40nm SW (Q1013), LEBZ 97nm NW (Q1012)
This station has complete Precipitation information. No interpolation needed

NOTE: Clouds, visibility and precipitation reported are the ones from the active cell weather

all the way to LPFR.
Sometimes I would clear the flight plan and the clouds would appear, sometimes not. Sometimes deselecting the ActiveSky control sim depiction mode and reativating it would show the clouds but never on their own.
So I started checking the options and found out that if I leave the Periodic theme reload interval at default 15, it would not change the weather, as soon as I lowered that value to 5, clouds started to form way before my arrival to LPFR.

So guys, try to lower your Periodic theme reload interval and see if you get better results.

I set to 5 and will try without flightplan

I made an IFR flight from KDLH to KABR disabling flight plan loading in ASFS and the differences were these:

after departure the display of cloud cover was the same and ASFS seemed to follow the Metar, I say it seemed because if in the flight previously described in my post, only after 8 minutes ASFS did not follow the indications of the Metar which always gave total cloud cover, in this flight, ASFS began to not follow the Metar indications about 80 miles from KABR displaying a sky with very few clouds more and more rapidly while MSFS correctly displayed total cloud cover.

Once closed and restarted, ASFS returned to correctly following the Metar until arriving at KABR.

I also found that on runway 27 of KDLH, with the same Metar, while MSFS gave a correct visualization which was 1,800 meters, ASFS visualized well beyond the runway which is 3080 meters long.

Another consideration I make concerns the display of rain on the ground by ASFS which, IMHO, I still consider to be too little compared to that displayed by Msfs with the same conditions as Metar and also the rapid and unnatural "evaporation" of the drop on the wind shield.

As this announcement and q&a thread has gotten a bit long, which is too hard to follow (and are now containing bug reports but some reports here are not complete, lack information, and/or are not bugs), I'm going to close this now. Please open a new thread for any new issues and make sure to include relevant information. We'll be much more able to assist you and confirm actual bugs with the appropriate included information. You can see this post on how to report bugs: https://forums.hifisimtech.com/threads/how-to-make-bug-reports.14812/

Thank you!
