Resolved SU2 Beta winds aloft x2

Hello,
Some tests with su2 beta and 9238 :
Winds aloft speed is multiplied by 2 regarding charts and "ambiant value monitor". The direction is good.
For example above LFBO :
In MSFS2024 FL300: 200@110 kts
Ambiant value monitor : 202@57
Charts : 200@55

Hi,

I suspect a units conversion problem. What language setting and what units setting do you use in MSFS2024 options?

Hi Damian,
Exactly. The problem comes from hybrid unit selection. If i select metric there's no problem
Thanks

I've found that there is a bug in MSFS2024 SU2 related to wind speed units. They are reporting as kt when in e.g. French language hybrid units mode but the wind is handled as m/s. You can see this in the default weather setting UI. To account for this, possibly temporary bug, I have added detection of this incorrect units handling of wind speed and automatic conversion to m/s, which will yield correct depiction results in sim (but show winds as half speed in the weather setting UI).

Here is a test build with that fix. Please let me know your results: https://www.mediafire.com/file_premium/67gy2jxjrxwxt79/AS_FS_Install.exe/file

Thanks!

Hello Damian,

Same problem with 9243. I have an open ticket (34717) with this issue but no yet solved.

FYI, wind speed units bug when using hybrid Unit of Measure has been fixed in Sim Update 5 (even if no mention of it in the release notes). Not sure if it has an impact on the fix that has been implemented last year ?

It may. We have no open reports. Our "fix" for the issue was only applied if the units were confirmed incorrectly applied, so likely this is catching that and not causing hysteresis.

Not quite. It's further broken IMO.

I was able to reproduce the issue. It's a new MSFS bug since latest SU5 update(s). I have reported the issue in devsupport forums.

The issue is that in hybrid mode, wind layer speed units are specified as kt but restricted/limited as mps (meters per second). This confuses ASFS since it's limited as mps but actually in kts. Even if we adjust to treat it as kt, it is limited to mps speeds and still broken. You can observe this bug in the default weather panel.

Hopefully they fix this.

In the mean time, I recommend using U.S. or Metric units mode.

Hi there, what is the latest on this? I am still seeing half wind speeds in the SIM. How should I configure the SIM and AS to have the wind in the SIM be the same as the winds I set in activesky? What AS version should I use? Many thanks!

The hybrid mode issue has been fixed in FS2024 SU6 Beta (so if you are using the Live version you'll need to wait for SU6 to be live). I understand no changes are required on ASFS side but I'll let them confirm.

Thank you very kindly. I will try that.

Would love hifi staff to confirm, thank you!

We can confirm SU6 (now official) has fixed the hybrid units issue observed in the previous beta version(s) and works properly with latest version of ASFS.
